Web Connection

The Remote Access Service lets you use SSC Network software and services over the Internet. To use this Web Connection method, you must use Internet Explorer and install the Remote Desktop Connection Active-X control when prompted to do. Otherwise the Connect button will be greyed out. Please read the following sections for more information.

Windows XP/Vista Users

Windows XP and Vista have a built-in Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) program and should use it instead of this Web Connection method by following these instructions:

Exit your web browser and click:

   Start> All Programs> Accessories> [Communications>]
   Remote Desktop Connection.

Enter: sscnet.uwo.ca or sscnet2.uwo.ca in the Computer field.

Apple Mac Users

An RDC client for Mac users can be downloaded from  www.mactopia.com. Click the "Downloads" link and download the "Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac".

Session Limits

Sessions will be terminated after the following time limits:

	sscnet	sscnet2
Disconnected sessions	5 minutes	2 days
Active but idle sessions	1 hour	3 hours
Active session limit	1 day	2 days

This service is provided for academic usage only - unauthorized use is strictly prohibited.

Software installation on the server is prohibited.

Save important files only on your H: or S: drive.
